The Middle School Science and Technology teacher reports to the Middle School Director and collaborates with other Middle School teachers. The Middle School (grades 5-8) places a strong emphasis on habits of learning, which include a growth mindset, personal responsibility, communication, and organization. 

The philosophy of the Middle School Science Program is to teach inquiry-based learning, use hands-on and relevant real-world experiences, and to emphasize the engineering design process and the scientific method. The curriculum serves students with different learning styles and abilities, enabling them to gain confidence and expand their scientific skills to become effective problem solvers and communicators of scientific ideas. Our science program focuses on biology and living systems in 5th grade, structures and functions of living organisms in 6th grade, earth science in 7th grade, and physics and chemistry in 8th grade. 

Our technology program is focused on digital citizenship, coding and computer skills, and learning how to effectively use the Google applications in 5th and 6th grade.  7th and 8th grade technology classes expose students to careers in IT-related fields and explore more advanced coding and computer skills.

• Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred
• A minimum of three years of experience teaching Science and/or Technology, preferably at an independent school
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
