What You’ll Do
As a member of our Upper School faculty, you will teach a range of courses including traditional history offerings as well as Economics and Personal Finance and Entrepreneurship for students in grades 9–12. The Entrepreneurship course features a dynamic culminating project, Saints Tank, inspired by the television show Shark Tank.
More importantly, you will:
- Design engaging, student-centered lessons that spark curiosity and discussion
- Help students connect historical events to the modern world
- Create meaningful projects and assessments that deepen understanding
- Foster critical thinking, analysis, and perspective-taking
- Build a classroom environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students, guiding them academically and personally
- Partner with families through clear and consistent communication
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments and divisions
- Support students beyond the classroom through mentoring, extra help, and school life
What We’re Looking For
We’re searching for someone who brings energy, creativity, and a genuine love for working with adolescents. Our ideal candidate:
- Has a degree in History, Secondary Education, or a related field
- Has experience teaching Upper School History (independent school experience is a plus)
- Embraces a student-centered, discussion-driven approach to learning
- Is comfortable integrating technology into the classroom
- Values collaboration and contributes positively to a team environment
- Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Is organized, proactive, and eager to grow professionally
- Understands the importance of educating the whole child
- Brings patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor to the work
