Millwood School seeks an enthusiastic and versatile Spanish Teacher to teach across multiple grade levels, including Junior Kindergarten–Grade 2, Grades 7–8, and High School Spanish. Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
Teach Spanish to JK–2 students using play based, immersive, and developmentally appropriate methods.
Teach Spanish to Grades 7–8 with a focus on building foundational proficiency, cultural understanding, and readiness for high school coursework.
Teach High School Spanish courses (Levels I–III or as assigned), emphasizing communication, grammar, reading, writing, and cultural literacy.
Design engaging lessons that support language acquisition at each stage of development.
Develop and refine curriculum to ensure strong vertical alignment across the entire JK–12 program.
Incorporate authentic cultural experiences, project based learning, and real world applications.
Assess student progress using varied and meaningful tools.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field preferred.
Teaching certification required
Experience with IB MYP a positive
Strong Spanish ability and strong understanding of language acquisition pedagogy.
Experience teaching early childhood, middle school, and/or high school students; independent school experience preferred.
Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of working with children and adolescents.
Millwood is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory school in Midlothian, Virginia, offering Junior Kindergarten through 12th Grade in a warm and nurturing environment.
