Norfolk Collegiate School seeks a Middle and Upper School French Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position involves teaching French courses across the Middle and Upper School divisions and contributing to a dynamic Modern & Classical Languages program that values intellectual curiosity, cultural competency, and student engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching French at the middle and/or upper school level, demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills, and be committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach Middle and Upper School French courses, including AP French, aligned with departmental and school curriculum goals
Design engaging lessons that promote language proficiency, cultural understanding, and global awareness aligned with ACTFL language proficiency standards
Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative methods, incorporating instructional technology to support language learning
Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and confidence in language learning
Collaborate with Modern & Classical Languages faculty on curriculum development and departmental initiatives
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in French, World Languages, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Experience teaching French at the middle and/or upper school level
Strong knowledge of French language and Francophone cultures
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Commitment to supporting adolescents academically and socially
Willingness to engage fully in the life of an independent school community
