								<description>Alexandria, Virginia,  Episcopal High School is seeking a&#xa0; director of annual giving &#xa0;to join the School&#8217;s advancement team. The director of annual giving is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for the vision, execution, and growth of the &#8220;Roll Call,&#8221; Episcopal&#8217;s annual giving program. Reporting to the director of development, this role integrates high-level strategy with creative execution and data-driven decision-making. The director of annual giving partners with the associate director of annual giving, parent programs to foster a culture of philanthropy among alumni, parents, grandparents, students, and friends of the School, while ensuring efficient internal operations. 
 Guided by its founding principles of honor, academic distinction, spiritual growth, and community, Episcopal High School is a 100% boarding school located in Alexandria, Va., serving 440+ students in grades 9-12. By fostering strong relationships and school pride, the advancement team plays an integral role in engaging all members of the community to actively support the School&#8217;s mission and strategic priorities. 
 Core Responsibilities 
 1. Strategic Leadership &#38; Team Management 
 
 Team Development : Manage and support associate director of annual giving, parent programs, by setting clear goals, providing consistent coaching, and maintaining high levels of accountability. 
 Program Oversight : Serve as the primary architect of the Roll Call solicitation strategy and annual calendar, ensuring all efforts align with broader advancement goals. 
 Pipeline Management : Track top annual fund prospects and coordinate closely with leadership gift officers to ensure timely and collaborative solicitation strategies. 
 
 2. Multi-Channel Solicitation &#38; Communications 
 
 Creative Conception : Partner with the assistant director of development communications to create, design, and produce Roll Call solicitations and educational messaging about the impact of philanthropy. 
 Segmentation : Define and segment audiences to deliver highly relevant messages across print, digital, and social media platforms. 
 Brand Collaboration : Partner with the communications team and outside vendors to produce brochures, magazine ads, videos, and social media content. 
 Digital Innovation : Lead conception and planning for the annual day of giving and maintain all public-facing giving platforms, including the website and GiveCampus platform. 
 
 3. Volunteer Management &#38; Outreach 
 
 Alumni Engagement : Recruit and manage alumni class chairs; provide logistical support and strategic guidance to empower them as effective peer solicitors. 
 Direct Outreach : Coordinate team-wide outreach efforts; personally conduct one-on-one solicitations for leadership and mid-level annual gifts. 
 Student Philanthropy : Foster an understanding of giving among current students, working with student members of the Young Alumni Leadership Program (YALP) and organizing the Senior Class giving effort. 
 
 4. Data, Technology &#38; Operations 
 
 Platform Mastery : Strategically utilize the GiveCampus suite (online giving, Volunteer Management System, GC Outreach, texting, etc.) to enhance the donor experience. 
 Data Integrity : Manage the flow of data between Raiser&#8217;s Edge and GiveCampus; oversee the annual update of alumni and parent &#8220;target ask&#8221; amounts. 
 
 5. Stewardship &#38; Events 
 
 Donor Recognition : Work with the stewardship team to ensure that all Roll Call donors are thanked and stewarded appropriately. 
 Event Staffing : Serve as a key representative of the advancement team at major school events, including Family Weekends, Spirit Weekend, Reunion Weekend, and regional receptions. 
 
 Key Qualifications 
 
 Experience : Proven track record in annual fund management, preferably in an independent school or higher education setting. 
 Technical Skills : Expertise in Raiser&#8217;s Edge NXT and GiveCampus (or similar CRM and online giving platforms). 
 Communications : Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to design compelling solicitations. 
 Leadership : Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage staff and motivate high-level volunteers. 
 Adaptability : Ability to balance high-level strategic planning with the &quot;boots-on-the-ground&quot; logistics of a busy advancement office. 
 
 The position is full-time, year-round, in-office, and is available beginning July 2026. As a staff position, this role does not qualify for on-campus housing.

 &#xa0; Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
 Strategic Leadership &#38; Fundraising 
 
 Design and execute a multi-year advancement strategy that integrates annual giving, major gifts, campaigns, planned giving, and fundraising events into a cohesive and sustainable program aligned with the school&#8217;s strategic vision. 
 Lead and strengthen the annual giving program. 
 Partner with the Head of School and trustees to cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership-level gifts, and independently manage a portfolio of approximately 50-75 major gift prospects across the full donor lifecycle. 
 
 Community Engagement &#38; Governance 
 
 Build and sustain strong relationships with the Head of School, Board leadership, and trustees, providing guidance and support to advance their role in fundraising. 
 Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Development Committee, supporting its work to achieve annual and long-term goals. 
 Recruit, mobilize, and support parents, alumni, and other volunteers to deepen engagement and advance fundraising priorities. 
 Lead the strategy and execution of signature fundraising and community-building events, including the annual gala and other key initiatives. 
 Collaborate and liaise with the parents association. 
 
 Communications &#38; Brand Visibility 
 
 Partner with the Head of School, Admissions, and Communications Support to implement a comprehensive and strategic internal and external communications plan that supports both enrollment and fundraising. 
 Instill donor confidence and clearly articulate fundraising strategy and campaign cadence. 
 Ensure consistent and compelling institutional &#8220;brand&#8221; voice that effectively communicates the impact of philanthropy.&#xa0; 
 Oversee the creation of high-quality advancement materials, including annual fund collateral, acknowledgement letters, case statements, campaign communications, and donor impact reports. 
 Collaborate on a comprehensive communications plan, including the school&#8217;s magazine, weekly e-newsletters, and strategic social media engagement. 
 
 Operations &#38; Data Management 
 
 Manage the development budget with precision, ensuring responsible resource allocation and a strong return on investment for all fundraising campaigns and special events. 
 Standardize reporting, providing regular reporting and analysis to the Head of School, including key performance indicators and fundraising progress. Provide periodic fundraising updates and reports to the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.&#xa0; 
 Supervise and mentor the Advancement Associates (PT Database &#38; Gift Processing Coordinator and PT Event Coordinator) supporting professional growth and ensuring strong execution of database management, gift processing, and reporting, and advancement events such as the annual gala and auction. 
 Oversee and enhance all fundraising operations, including donor systems, database management, gift processing, gift acknowledgements, and reporting; ensuring compliance with industry standards, accuracy, efficiency, and data-driven decision making. 
 
 Qualifications and Experience 
 
 Education:  Bachelor&#8217;s degree required; Master&#8217;s degree in Non-Profit Management or Communications, preferred. 
 Professional Experience:  5-8 years of progressive leadership in development within an independent school setting. 
 Proven Track Record:  Demonstrated success in personally soliciting and closing major gifts and managing multi-year capital campaigns.&#xa0; 
 Technical Proficiency:  Expert-level experience with donor management systems (e.g., Raiser&#8217;s Edge, Blackbaud).&#xa0; 
 Leadership and Presence:  Ability to build trust and inspire confidence among donors, volunteers, and school leadership, with exceptional boardroom presence and the ability to connect with and influence high-net-worth individuals and executive leadership. 
 Communication Skills:  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling case for support. 
 Due to the fiduciary responsibilities of this role, including access to sensitive donor financial information and school accounts, the final candidate will be required to successfully complete a comprehensive background check, including a criminal history and credit check. 
 
 Physical Requirements &#38; Working Conditions 
 
 Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for donor events and board meetings. 
 Ability to lift and transport materials to events and travel locally as needed 
 Ability to drive a vehicle and possession of a valid driver&#8217;s license.

 Draft, prepare, and coordinate alumni communications, invitations, RSVP tracking, and follow up 
 Support digital outreach efforts, including social media content and online engagement, in partnership with colleagues 
 
 Operations and Project Management 
 
 Maintain accurate constituent and engagement records in Veracross, GiveCampus, and other Advancement platforms 
 Support data integrity, reporting, acknowledgements, and tracking for fundraising and engagement efforts 
 Manage administrative details for a variety of projects across the Advancement Office 
 Welcome and assist office visitors and support general office hospitality 
 Assist with scheduling, travel arrangements, expense reporting, and department supplies as needed 
 Collaborate with Communications Team to coordinate messaging and engagement through various channels of communication 
 Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all aspects of work
