Founded in 1898, Fork Union Military Academy (FUMA) is a Christian, military-structured boarding and day school serving young men in grades 7–12 and postgraduate studies. Located in central Virginia, FUMA provides a college preparatory education focused on leadership, character, discipline, and personal growth. Our cadets come from across the United States and around the world.
FUMA is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Admission Counselor who is passionate about helping families find the right educational environment for their sons and supporting the mission of the Academy.
This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management.
Position Summary
The Admission Counselor plays a key role in recruiting, enrolling, and retaining mission-appropriate cadets. This position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective families throughout the admissions process — from initial inquiry through enrollment. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, goal-oriented, and enjoys building meaningful relationships with students and families. This role also supports reenrollment efforts and assists in developing and coordinating the Academy’s Cadet Tour Guide Program.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrate strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with high school students and families is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and enrollment management software. The successful candidate should be able to build lasting relationships with students, parents, alumni, and colleagues while supporting the mission and values of Fork Union Military Academy. Experience in a boarding school, military school, or independent school setting is helpful, but not required.
