Guided by its founding principles of honor, academic distinction, spiritual growth, and community, Episcopal High School is a 100% boarding school located in Alexandria, Va., serving 440+ students in grades 9-12. The EHS Advancement Office fosters relationships with and among individuals and organizations whose engagement, school pride, and financial support fuel the efforts and achievements of students, faculty, and staff in pursuit of the School’s mission and strategic priorities.
Episcopal High School seeks a full-time Director of Events to organize, plan and coordinate all Episcopal High School events. This person is responsible for coordinating all on-campus events, including but not limited to Family Weekends, Spirit Weekend, Reunions, Commencement, Board of Trustee weekends, faculty and staff events, and other school-wide programs and events. The Director of Events will also be a key partner in planning logistics for Advancement events both on- and off-campus. The Director of Events will report to the Assistant Head for Advancement.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Working with the School’s other internal departments including the Head of School’s office, Deans’ office, Facilities, Business Office and FLIK (contract dining service) to plan on-campus events;
- Securing outside vendors for on and off-campus events;
- Overseeing all event coordination including event timelines, logistics and work orders, event set-up and break down; etc.
- Partnering with Advancement Programs Coordinator to ensure that all invitations, communications with guests and hosts, nametags, host gifts, programs, and other event materials for Advancement events are prepared.
- Partnering closely with members of the Advancement Team to help deliver exceptional experiences to alumni, parents, and other constituents through events on- and off-campus and to help identify new event opportunities that engage, cultivate, and steward Episcopal alumni and parents as the School publicly launches a multi-year, multi-million dollar campaign.
- Serving as a liaison to all off-campus individuals or groups who want to use EHS facilities for events including, but not limited to, meetings, weddings, receptions, and funerals as well as on-campus personnel who want to use EHS facilities for events or meetings; and
- Coordinating all dedications of buildings and other facilities.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of professional experience organizing large social and/or business events
- A familiarity with independent schools and a true appreciation for the mission and values of Episcopal High School
- Strong verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines, as well as flexibility to adapt when needs arise or change quickly
- Ability to both work well independently as well as a team member
- Experience with Google Apps, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Google Drive, is preferred.
- Experience using Raiser’s Edge or another database, formatting nametags and other materials using Microsoft Word, and using online event tools like Paperless Post and Eventbrite preferred.
