About Us
Hudson Valley Swim has been teaching students of all ages how to swim safely and confidently for over 20 years. Our mission is simple: Swim Lessons Save Lives. As we expand into Virginia, we’re looking for dedicated swim instructors to grow our VA locations.
The Role
As Instructor, you’ll guide students through every stage of learning, while also helping to shape the program. You’ll start with weekend day classes and weekday evening classes, with hours expanding as enrollment grows.
Responsibilities
Teach a minimum of 4 hours a week of swim lessons to students of all ages and skill levels (starting at 4 mo. through adults) with our provided curriculum
Provide a safe, structured, and encouraging environment for students and families
Track student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
Maintain high instructional standards to support program growth
Mentor and train future instructors as the location expands
Additional/Optional opportunities may include:
Administrative support, including answering phones, scheduling, light sales (booking prospective clients), and email correspondence
Community marketing, such as attending local events to represent Hudson Valley Swim
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of swim instruction experience
Communication and interpersonal skills — able to connect with students, parents, and teammates while remaining dependable and professional
Availability for some weekday evenings and some weekend day shifts
Flexible, adaptive personality and skill set compatible with educating neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals
A good sense of humor and fun-loving spirit
Preferred Qualifications:
Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid Certification/Swim Whisperer Certification
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience teaching infants, young children, adults, and special needs students
