The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking dedicated educators to join our Lower School faculty starting in the 2026-27 school year. Our school, which serves over 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning committed to the formation of the whole person through a rich and humane education.

Faculty at The Covenant School understand teaching as a Christian vocation. They take personal responsibility for students’ intellectual, spiritual, and personal development and work together to cultivate a community of scholars in which students are known, loved, and appropriately challenged.

Position Overview

Lower School teachers at The Covenant School play a central role in laying the foundations of a Christian liberal arts education. We are seeking educators who are committed to the holistic formation of children and who approach teaching with both joy and seriousness of purpose. Teachers introduce students to habits of attention, wonder, and disciplined learning while providing clear structure, consistent expectations, and age-appropriate academic challenge.

Teachers integrate Christian faith naturally and thoughtfully into daily classroom life and foster an environment in which students encounter the goodness, truth, and beauty of God’s creation. They support the growth and flourishing of every child through careful instruction, meaningful relationships, and shared responsibility within the life of the school.

We are currently accepting applications for Kindergarten through Grade 5 classroom teachers. Each grade level has three sections of students, and teachers collaborate closely as part of a grade-level team. We welcome candidates whose experiences or backgrounds enrich this shared work, within a community shaped by a shared commitment to the school’s Christian mission and educational vision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Teaching certification required
• One to two years of teaching experience preferred
• Ability to integrate Christian faith authentically and thoughtfully in the context of teaching
