The Siena School in Oakton, VA, seeks an after-school teacher to supervise students from 3:30-6:00 pm Monday through Thursday. We are looking for a highly collaborative individual who believes in students who learn differently and can build positive relationships within a warm and supportive environment.
The Siena School prepares bright, college-bound students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, to become confident, curious learners who understand their personal strengths and gain the tools and strategies to excel. Our after-school program creates space for students to complete their homework and engage in creative activities to socialize with peers. The after-school staff consists of two adults who support students with organization as they complete homework and nurture an environment of fun and positivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise students and supply homework and organizational support Support the school’s mission and culture, promoting a positive, inclusive school climate Through a restorative justice lens, support student adherence to school expectations Establish and maintain good relationships with varying stakeholders Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with families Complete paperwork documenting attendance & coordinate with the business office Medical technician certification and first aid training and undertake these responsibilities daily (The Siena School will support obtaining this certification if needed.)

The Siena School (www.thesienaschool.org) has two campuses, one in Oakton, VA, which opened in fall, 2021, and one in Silver Spring, Maryland, which is in its 17th year. Both campuses are experiencing expanding enrollment. The Siena School has become a national leader in educating bright, college-bound students with mild to moderate language-based learning differences. Siena enrolls approximately 40% students of color.
