The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks an assistant teacher to support a short term leave from March- June for the 2023-2024 school year in its Primary School.

Our full-time, salaried assistant teachers work closely with lead teachers to deliver small-group and full-class instruction in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and/or life skills, and collaborate with head teachers to assess and record student progress. Guided by the theory and practice of the Responsive Classroom, assistant teachers work with lead teachers to provide consistent and positive classroom management.
Assistant teachers are a part of a two person classroom team in our Primary School (Preschool, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten) working with the lead homeroom teachers as well as resource and specialist teachers to support instruction throughout the day. Through generous professional development opportunities and regular collaborative team meetings, assistant teachers are able to develop their skills and work toward their professional goals.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in education preferred, three to five years previous experience working with children in learning environments, excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfort with integrating technology into the curriculum, interest in collaborating with colleagues, and a passion for working with children required.
