The Potomac School, a K-12 independent school in McLean, VA is seeking a full-time, Assistant Athletic Trainer/Physical Education Teacher for a potential position beginning with the 2023-24 school year. 

The Potomac School has 72 interscholastic teams in grades 7-12 and supports 26 varsity teams. The school’s boy’s teams are members of the Mid-Atlantic Conference and the girl’s teams are members of the Independent School League.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching K-6 physical education classes
• Collaborating with other physical educators in the PE department, preparing age-appropriate lesson plans
• Assessing student performance, writing reports on children's progress and communicating with parents
• Attending professional development workshops/conferences
• Coverage of the athletic training room and coverage at all home practices and games
• Shared coverage of away football games
• Weekend coverage of games on Saturdays should be expected, with Sunday coverage on rare occasions.
• Any other duties assigned

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must currently hold an active certification with the NATABOC and be licensed in the State of Virginia or eligible for licensure.  A Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or similar program is required, Master’s preferred.  Additionally, the candidate should be energetic and have at least two years of elementary teaching experience as well as strong oral & written communication skills. The candidate should possess knowledge of methods of prevention and treatment of injuries and concussion management.
