Norfolk Collegiate is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time lower school band teaching position for the academic year 2023-2024. The teaching responsibilities for this position take place prior to the start of the school day for students, from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This position will include working with interested fourth and fifth graders to learn how to play selected instruments and lead them in the performance of various pieces of music. The lower school band typically conducts selected pieces during two concerts each year that will take place during school hours. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Ideal candidates will have teaching experience in a lower school setting and a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to learning. We seek teachers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching lower school students. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in working with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. This position requires collaborative work with others; therefore, this individual must be able to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
