The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a Primary and Lower School Math Specialist beginning in August 2023.
The math specialist works with primary and lower school students and teachers to promote and support mathematics learning and development. Partnering with a second math specialist, who focuses on upper elementary instruction, the math specialist serves as a curricular leader in mathematics education and leads professional development initiatives. In cooperation with the director of student support and other members of the student support team, the math specialist partners with teachers to support students with a variety of learning styles. As facilitators of school-wide assessment practices, the student support team collaborates with classroom teachers as they administer, score, and evaluate assessments. The math specialist is an integral member of grade level teams, collaborates with colleagues to create and implement action plans for students as needed, and monitors students’ progress in cooperation with classroom teachers and members of the student support team. Additionally, the math specialist models and teaches small and whole group instruction, and participates on the coaching team to provide instructional coaching to faculty members.
