We are seeking an individual to work with students and families to offer mental health support with the goal of helping students succeed. This position would work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to establish rapport and support wellness for all SSSAS students and families. Responsibilities include:
Building relationships with students, faculty, administrators and families throughout the school community;
Providing crisis intervention when necessary;
Providing short-term counseling support for students with mental health or social-emotional challenges;
Communicating with therapists and other outside resources in order to best support students;
Assisting in education of students regarding mental health issues (i.e. pushing into health classes to teach about anxiety/depression and other mental health topics);
Coordination of parent education programming with the counseling team.
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
An advanced degree in school counseling, social work, or psychology;
Particular knowledge and expertise in supporting the mental health and well-being of students, faculty, and families of color;
A deep commitment to student social-emotional growth;
Experience working with students with learning challenges, ADHD, and/or school anxiety;
Experience working in a school setting with children varying in age from 3 years old to late adolescence;
Appropriate certification in a counseling-related field.
