The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, anticipates lower school head teacher openings for the 2023-2024 school year. The exact grades and content areas will be known in the coming months.
Guided by the theory and practice of the Responsive Classroom, our lower school teachers focus on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child to create a nurturing and stimulating environment in which to learn. Lower school teachers provide instruction in core content areas (math, reading/phonics, writing and social studies). Additionally, homeroom teachers in grades one through five work collaboratively with special subject teachers in science, world languages, music, art, technology, library, and physical education to create integrated units of study.
Grounded in a deep respect for childhood, The Langley School offers an exceptional community and an inquiry-based academic curriculum paired with a unique social-emotional program for students in preschool through eighth grade. Since 1942, The Langley School has shaped confident, kind, self-aware learners who are prepared to thrive in the nation's top high schools and beyond. Langley remains committed to attracting and retaining exceptional faculty as members of our community who demonstrate a deep respect for childhood, are excited about being leaders in teaching and learning, and want to work in a highly collaborative environment.
