The Hellenic Education Center (HEC) is seeking a Director for the bilingual preschool at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, VA. 

As part of our community, you’ll create a loving and safe environment where children ages 2 - 5 can develop whole-child skills and knowledge. The Preschool Director is responsible for overseeing a small staff of English and Greek language teachers in the implementation of research-based curricula that foster students’ emotional and academic growth. The Preschool Director partners with families, clergy, and church ministries to provide a developmentally-appropriate education rooted in Greek Orthodox values and traditions. The Preschool Director ensures compliance with licensure regulations.

Key Duties:

• Oversee daily operations of the preschool, including scheduling, staffing, administration, and licensing
• Develop and lead HEC staff, including interviewing and hiring new teachers and supporting existing teachers in their professional learning and growth 
• Collaborate with clergy to integrate children’s learning in Greek Orthodox values and traditions 
• Collaborate with the Greek-language staff to adapt curriculum to provide bilingual education for all children
• Collaborate with families to inform HEC programming and develop community among families
• Lead one classroom of children ages 2-5, depending on enrollment
• Lead HEC in its interest in adopting a new curriculum and provide professional learning or collaborate with outside consultants to do so
• Administrative duties and other duties as assigned

Part-time or Full-Time position

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or associates degree and equivalent work experience
• Current knowledge of best practices in social-emotional, language, literacy, physical, the arts, cognitive, and mathematics  instruction for children ages 2 - 5
• A child-centered approach to teaching and the ability to organize a safe and nurturing learning environment  
• The ability to provide meaningful feedback and professional support to staff
• Experience teaching, preferably early learners
• Experience with multilingual children and families and/or bilingual education, or the willingness to learn
• An open and collaborative approach to working with teachers, families, and other stakeholders
• Familiarity with Virginia’s Child Care Regulations, or the willingness to learn
• Familiarity with Greek Orthodox values and customs, or the willingness to learn
• CPR and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain
• The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English
• Greek language fluency preferred but not required
• Educational administrative experience preferred but not required
