The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia seeks an academic resource teacher/instructional coach for our middle school division to begin in September 2021. Since September 2020, we have been operating in a phased approach to school opening that includes on-campus instruction with periods of virtual learning for all students, based on safety needs of the community. The position will support students with diverse learning needs through instructional coaching as well as direct support to middle school students with specific learning profiles. Specifically, the resource teacher/coach will: ? Teach sections of Academic FLEX, a class designed to support students who need additional time, attention, and skill development ? Work with middle school students and teachers on executive functioning skills such as organization, planning, and study skills ? Coach teachers across middle school grade levels and disciplines to support differentiated instruction in an inquiry-based curriculum (co-planning, co-teaching and/or observations with reflection) ? Attend grade levels meetings to support instructional and intervention planning ? Analyze evidence of student learning in partnership with teacher teams to identify areas of need and targeted responses for students with diverse learning needs ? Master’s degree (courses and/or concentrations in special education preferred), experience teaching at the middle school level, expertise in supporting diverse learners, instructional coaching experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, skill and interest in collaborating with colleagues, and a passion for working with children required. Given the current global context, specific risk mitigation strategies are in place to ensure the safety of all community members, including small, cohorted classes and other CDC best practices.
