Position Summary:
St. Christopher’s School, the largest all-boys school in Virginia and one of the largest and oldest boys’ schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, seeks a Co-Teacher for Kindergarten or 1st Grade.

The Lower School is a busy and purposeful place. We seek applicants who will provide inspiration and joy to our boys and contribute to the dynamic and energetic ethos within our school community. Co-teachers will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the grade level team, the Head of Lower School, and other resource and support faculty and staff.
Principal Responsibilities:
Shows initiative and supports lead teacher in all aspects of the classroom, including classroom management.
Supports and/or conducts small and large group instruction planned by the lead teacher. Examples include, but are not limited to the following:
Assists lead teacher in necessary daily routines, including beginning and end-of-the day preparation. Examples include, but are not limited to the following:
Greets the boys and helps them to unpack
Covers recess and carpool duties in conjunction with the teacher
Helps with preparing, checking, and distributing classroom materials
Provides lead teacher with feedback based on observations of the boys.
Supports the Enrichment teachers in the classroom during their lessons.

Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record
Experience working with elementary aged children
Personal traits and communication style that nurture the growth of children
Works cooperatively with adults and has a strong ability to multitask
Passion and joy for working with young people and an enthusiasm for learning
Comfort with using technology daily and a willingness to learn and navigate specific platforms
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.
Occasionally required to work in poor weather conditions such as temperature, precipitation and wind during recess and carpool duty.
