Position Requirements The Director of Admission assumes primary responsibility for developing, executing, and managing the admission operation of the school. In collaboration with the entire Burgundy Farm Country Day community, including fellow administrators, teachers, students, parents, and alumni, the Director recruits and enrolls mission-appropriate students from diverse backgrounds. The Director of Admission is a member of the Administrative Team and reports directly to the Head of School. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Recruiting - Meets and communicates with all prospective families
- Develops and executes a personalized, high-touch follow-up system to steward prospective families through the application, financial aid and enrollment processes
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with local pre-schools, other feeder schools, programs and communities, participates in professional organizations, and attends local school fairs
- Organizes and implements four to six open house events per year. Open house events include Head of School, teacher, parent, and student participation and can be recruitment for the whole school or smaller, more focused events
- Collaborates with the Director of Communications and PR, along with the Outreach Coordinator, Head of School, and Administrative Team, to continually evaluate and redesign all marketing materials and tools, including the website
- Organizes and schedules admission visits, internal admission assessments and/or interviews with applicants and ensures systematic communication with prospective families
- Makes arrangements for admissions assessment as necessary
- Secures applications and organizes application review process
- Communicates final admission decisions to families and maintains a wait pool
Enrollment - Communicates with newly admitted families about the enrollment process
- In collaboration with the Head of School and the financial aid committee administers the school’s financial aid/discounted tuition program in support of net tuition revenue goals
- In collaboration with the entire school community, plans and implements orientation and on-boarding process for newly enrollment families
- Works with division heads to manage the re-enrollment process
- Directs and oversees Burgundy’s Parent Ambassador program that helps welcome new families to the school
Management - Develops an admission budget to include costs for marketing materials created in collaboration with the Director of Communications and Marketing
- Regularly surveys families about the admission process during and after the process
- Manages an office that includes the school’s Database Manager and Special Events and Outreach Coordinator, both of whom serve the office on a part-time basis
- Maintains relevant longitudinal statistics on all aspects of the admission and enrollment program and provides statistical reports as requested by Head of School
- Oversees the network of parents, former parents, student and alumni volunteers
- Represents the school at various gatherings and conferences
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Hours: - Arrive by 8:00 a.m., depart 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
- The School is closed for most national holidays, as well as Winter and Spring Break.
- Attends and manages evening and weekend events.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Should have 3 to 5 years experience in admission or a related field, preferably in an independent school environment
- Strong interpersonal skills - exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills
- Self-starter with a high degree of motivation and keen attention to detail.
- High degree of professionalism with sound judgment
- Ability to work and collaborate with/contribute to the Administrative Team
- Ability to participate in major all-campus events and protocols
- Experience with Student Information Systems like Veracross and Ravenna will be a plus
Salary and Benefits: - Salaries are based on a competitive independent school scale with increases for advanced degrees and experience.
- Burgundy Farm Country Day School will contribute $7,600 each plan year to each full-time employee’s benefits bank and pro-rated for employees who work at a minimum 75% of full-time, via our Section 125 Cafeteria Plan. This benefit may be taken as payment toward the school’s medical/dental/vision plans; dependent care expenses, subject to an IRS imposed limits, or may be taken as after tax cash to be added to the monthly salary.
- Retirement plan with TIAA, with a 3% employer contribution for two years and then 6% employer contribution after two years, both irrespective of employee contribution.
- A tuition benefit (1/2 discount) is offered for one qualified child attending Burgundy for children of full-time employees only. (Faculty-staff children may be eligible for additional financial aid also.)
