Riverside School is a private school that serves students in grade K-8 with dyslexia and similar language-based learning differences. We provide one-on-one reading instruction, small class sizes, and a nurturing environment so that students can return to mainstream education fully prepared to realize their highest potential.
Teach students to create and to love beautiful art.
Maintain an art room space that is neat and clean but also inspires creativity in students.
Supervise our pottery program and maintain our on-site kiln.
Work well with classroom teachers and pursue collaboration.
Create lessons plans for each class.
Attend work-day staff meetings.
Attend two after school functions per year.
Take attendance and prepare progress reports for grades.
This is a one-day-a-week, part-time position on Wednesdays during the school year.
with periodic evening and weekend responsibilities. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Previous art education experience in a school or other educational setting.
Virginia teaching certificate or art therapist certification.
Highly-motivated and able to work independently.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Self-confident, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively with and garner the respect of fellow teachers.
