Responsibilities (After School Assistant):
The After School Assistant supports the After School Coordinator by assuming a range of duties that ensure day-to-day operations of the after-school program run smoothly, safely and securely.
Job Description (After School Assistant):
The After School Assistant is responsible for the following essential duties:
Work effectively with the After School Coordinator and faculty/staff in creating a warm, nurturing, clean, and safe atmosphere for students;
Maintain effective and professional parent communication, including providing parents with information on programming;
Be present during the hours of 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Monday – Friday) during the school year;
Facilitate and supervise study hall, outdoor play, and other student activities;
Adhere to all personnel policies, procedures and rules contained in the Employee Handbook;
Support student behaviors and adhere to rules as described in the Family Handbook;
Support the school’s mission, philosophy, and values;
Attend specified faculty meetings;
Participate fully in the life of the school; engaging in collegial activities and supporting all members of the school community;
Assume additional responsibilities as designated by the Head of School.
Essential Skills (After School Assistant):
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) with related field as a major (preferred);
A minimum of two years experience teaching in a school or group environment (preferred);
Passion for teaching and for working with middle school students;
Strong communication and organizational skills;
Strong orientation towards personal/professional growth and success;
Strong orientation towards teamwork, institutional success, and community success;
Consistently demonstrates kindness, patience, and respect toward after school participants, parents, and colleagues;
Demonstrates high levels of flexibility, and is a supportive colleague, ready and willing to step in and help in any way as needed;
Exhibits professionalism, timeliness, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
