Responsibilities (After School Coordinator):
The After School Coordinator, in coordination with the Head of School and in collaboration with administrators, ensures day-to-day operations of the after-school program run smoothly, safely and securely.
Job Description (After School Coordinator):
The After School Coordinator is responsible for the following essential duties:
Work effectively with faculty and staff in creating a warm, nurturing, clean, and safe atmosphere for students;
Manage student registration and create rosters;
Manage the after school program budget;
Receive and maintain all records for students, monitor numbers and ratios to arrange for adequate staffing and space to ensure compliance with all Department of Social Services standards;
Be point of contact for DSS inspections;
Conduct and log monthly fire/safety drills, identify areas for improvement, and communicate new procedures to faculty and staff as needed;
Maintain effective and professional parent communication, including providing parents with information on programming;
Supervise After School Assistant; manage After School Assistant time sheet; secure and schedule substitutes as needed;
Be present during the hours of 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Monday – Friday) during the school year;
Facilitate and supervise study hall, outdoor play, and other student activities;
Meet regularly with administrators to build positive professional relationships between the School and after school program;
Communicate regularly with administrators to ensure consistency between school-day and after-school programs, including but not limited to the areas of general safety, student health, crisis management, and building related protocols;
Adhere to all personnel policies, procedures and rules contained in the Employee Handbook;
Support student behaviors and administer rules as described in the Family Handbook;
Support the school’s mission, philosophy, and values;
Attend specified faculty meetings;
Participate fully in the life of the school; engaging in collegial activities and supporting all members of the school community;
Assume additional responsibilities as designated by the Head of School.
Essential Skills (After School Coordinator):
Bachelor’s Degree (required) with related field as a major; Master’s Degree (preferred);
A minimum of two years experience teaching in a school environment (preferred);
Knowledge of middle school girls’ education; passion for teaching and for working with middle school students;
Strong communication and organizational skills;
Strong orientation towards personal/professional growth and success;
Strong orientation towards teamwork, institutional success, and community success.
